Project Overview
This timber frame building was designed to offer a flexible, modern space for a wide variety of local uses, while blending sympathetically with the surrounding landscape. The construction emphasised energy efficiency, accessibility, and low-maintenance materials, delivering a practical and durable solution for long-term community benefit.
Project Highlights:
- Timber frame construction, externally finished in dry dash render and stained timber cladding for weather protection and low upkeep.
- Metal-profiled pitched roof with integrated skylights to maximise daylight and natural ventilation.
- Fully accessible layout with level access, wide doorways, and dedicated disabled parking.
- Internal fit-out includes a large multi-use hall, kitchen and service areas, storage, and accessible toilets.
- External works completed to high standard, including car parking, footpaths, and landscaping.
Outcome:
Deerness Hall remains a valued local resource more than a decade after its completion — a testament to the build quality and functionality delivered by R Clouston Ltd.
